Where we’re you during the great 7.8 magnitude earthquake that rocked the Philippines’ main island of Luzon on 16 July 1990?
I was a fourth grade student, doing a writing assignment in Chinese class, when my seat started shaking.
The seats in our classroom was connected to the desk of the student seated behind, so I thought she was shaking her table, perhaps erasing a mistake furiously, so I got a bit annoyed and told her to stop.
I would sooner realise that the shaking was the earth’s doing, and saw my teacher holding on to the door jamb and getting dizzy.
She dismissed us quickly and we scrambled downstairs and got out of the building, staying inside the school compound waiting for our fetchers.
I don’t remember being afraid, but i saw lots of classmates crying.
