It’s six days until the London Olympic Games and I am looking forward to watching the opening ceremonies.
We’re living in the age of the iPhone app which means they have not one but two official London 2012 apps.
If you are going to be in London and need access to everything to effectively plan your Olympic Games itinerary, get the JOIN IN app. It’s supposed to tell you how to get to the game venues, see what’s happening in the vicinity, etc. I hope I get the chance to use it!
For the rest of us who are watching from our own tellies in our home countries, there’s the RESULTS app, that shows game schedules, athlete profiles, alarm for games you favorited (no thanks to Twitter for turning favorite into a verb), and real time medal tallies.
You can also support your country’s athletes and post on twitter and Facebook but it’s not working at the moment.
I’m excited! I love London!
On a related note: because I’m a nerd I like to find out more about the Olympics even if I’m not that into sports. So I downloaded the team USA app to find out each of their athlete’s Road to the Olympics journey.
Do I love the apps? I’ll find out when the games start. Will update then!
At the press conference of the PLDT Allstar Challenge this afternoon held in the new Mall of Asia Arena, I got to meet up close some of the basketball legends from the Philippine Basketball Association and the National Basketball Association.
I had to fangirl. I just had to. Without apology. These were guys I used to watch during their heyday. Though for the NBA stars, I had to Google everyone else last night save for Rodman and Pippen 😜
In times like these, I wish I were an avid follower instead of an occasional watcher of the sport. Because then I could’ve asked smart questions. I could’ve impressed everyone with my encyclopaedic knowledge of stats. I could’ve looked anything but a fan girl!
But, still, I got nice photos with Jerry Codiñera, Vince Hizon, and Jojo Lastimosa (who was hot in person!), as well as with Horace Grant, Mitch Richmond and Scottie Pippen!
Tomorrow is my last chance for a photograph with Dennis Rodman, Jason Williams and Coach Oscar Robertson.
Looking forward to the games tomorrow, and my question only is: why is Olsen Racela not part of the lineup?!?
I thought both teams just fooled around and didn’t give the other a serious run for their money. That said, it was still a fun game to watch seeing all the 90s greats side by side.
Bal David, Kenneth Duremdes, Noli Locsin still got game. And a little bit of Marlou Aquino.
Bal was the little David among the goliaths of professional basketball hee hee!
